Baby Sesame - Week 11

Your little one is roughly the size of a thumb this week, but he can swallow and kick, and his fingernails have started to grow. His head is so big it takes up almost half the length of his body, and a clear outline of his spine is visible. If you have an appointment with your doctor or midwife this week, she'll be able to pick up the speedy swoosh of a heartbeat with the help of a special stethoscope called a Doppler. Experts say hearing a heartbeat at this point is a major sign that the pregnancy is progressing as it should.

Life Doesn't Always Go As Planned....

Well, I'm writing from sunny Reno, Nevada Southern California. Yes, what you are seeing is correct. I am currently sitting at the all familiar desk in the home I share with Trei and the dogs.

Why, you ask? Because Aloha air sucks, and I chose to fly on the busiest weekend of the year. While I should be sitting on the couch with Janet and Karissa, recovering from a few Woochon rolls - I'm in actuality sitting here, feeling sorry for myself.

Here's the timeline of events from last night:

Reno, Here I Come!

My plane to Reno takes off in a little less than 12 hours. I’ll arrive at 10:40pm tonight and will spend Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with my family and a few close friends. I fly back into the OC Tuesday morning with my flight landing at 8:15am. Just in time for Trei to pick me up and drop me off at work by 8:30. Tuesday will fun, I’m sure.

I’m really looking forward to this upcoming trip. I have to be honest though, I thought for sure that Trei would give in and join me on my little trip when I booked it over a month ago. Well, he actually did cave, it was just too late. All flights were either sold out, or just plain expensive. So it looks like I’ll be making the trek on my own. But Trei has picked up extra shifts which means I’ll have some extra spending money in Reno (Shhh, don’t tell Trei J). I’m anxious for the flight (what’s new?), but know once I’m at the airport I’ll feel much better. It always happens that way. I’m not sure if any of you have ever flown out of Orange County, but there is this whole “no noise” law here. So when you take off, you literally go straight up, and then level out really quickly, which feels a lot like stopping midair. I always swear it is my last moment alive, and my heart races and I grip whoever is sitting next to me – so I’m reminding myself a million times today that it’s normal, that I’ve experienced it a dozen times, and not to freak out. It’s all part of flying out of Orange County..….and flying into Reno always involves some turbulence…..Oy, why can’t it just be smooth sailing. See, just writing this is giving me a heart attack. I’m pathetic.

Baby Sesame - Week 10

This week, Sesame measures about 1½ inches from top to bottom -- about as big as a cocktail shrimp, and similar in shape. Tooth buds are forming, bones are growing, and hair is starting to sprout. Her eyelids are fused shut and will remain closed until Week 27, but she can now hear you since the inner workings of the ear are complete. Neurons appear at one end of the spinal cord, and the basic divisions of the brain are present. She can also bend her arms at the elbows and has distinct fingers. Genitals continue to form, but your doctor would not be able to determine the sex yet, even by sonogram.

The Joy That Is My Life!

It’s Monday, again. Seriously, why in the world are the weekends coming and going in such a blur? Before I know it, it’s Sunday night and I’m gearing up for a new work week. I was definitely not prepared for today, and woke up in quite a daze. Driving to work, I kept thinking this must be a dream, because I couldn’t for the like of me remember where the weekend had gone.

Now that I’m back in the swing of things, I realize that this is all too real – and Monday, has indeed, arrived without fail. Bah!

Friday after work I got into my car and breathed a sigh of relief for the impending weekend. There is no other feeling like walking to the car and know that you have two days of rest and relaxation. Suddenly the senses heighten, and happiness fills my body. I drove home and walked into an empty house. Trei worked that night and I was left at home to settle into my PJ’s, watch some TV, eat dinner, clean up the house and do laundry. It was a very relaxing evening, and I was thankful that I got the house in such nice shape (I can’t take all the praise though, Trei did clean the bathroom, and it was sparkly clean!).

Show Me Some Love!

I’m not sure if I mentioned earlier, but I had some lab work done 2 weeks ago. I heard from the doctor yesterday and she wants to see me this afternoon to go over the results (some of them were abnormal). She told me not to worry or lose sleep over it. So, I’m actually pretty calm about it.

However, it’s always good to know that people are praying – so please, if you could, pray for the baby and I this afternoon during my appointment. Pray for good news, and a complete understanding of what the doctor is going to tell me.

I love you all, and know that everything is going to be fine. Thanks in advance for your prayers though, I appreciate it more than you know.

If Blogging Included the Letters S-L-E-E-P, Maybe I'd Be Doing It More!

I need to apologize for my lack in updating. Seriously, I’ve been so tired and so grumpy that I haven’t been up for anything but sleeping and lying around. It’s very sad actually. I haven’t commented on anyones blog’s, haven’t kept myself up to date on my friends lives, and haven’t even checked the blogroll daily. Plus, what in the world do I really have to say?

Well, Trei’s mom and sister graced us with their presence this weekend – and it was a total blast hanging out with them and taking on the town. We visited Grandma Jean who was watching baby Kaylee. Now that Trei and I know that we’re having a baby – spending time with a 3 month old took on a whole new meaning. I couldn’t believe how small she still was! She smelled like a baby, smiled at us, and was just perfect. I can’t believe by the end of the year I’m going to have one. It boggles my mind.

....Let's get together, what do you say? We can have a swinging time. We'd be a crazy team. Why don't we make a scene? Together....

My sister left yesterday after her weekend in Orange County with me. I was so excited to be able to spend 2 whole days with her, and of course, she didn't disappoint. We had such a great time together, and I look forward to the next time we can do it again. What about June Katy?!

She arrived Friday afternoon, and was at my house by the time I got off of work. Trei had to work that night, so Katy and I ran out to do a little shopping, ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and then back to the house for an evening of relaxation. Both of us were extremely tired, so we ended the night fairly early.
