Spending Some Alone Time....

It's been awhile, but I'm back for just a few moments to update everyone.

A week from tomorrow will be Trei and I's 3rd wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we are going out of town for 4 days and 3 nights. Our beautiful son Lucas is being picked up tomorrow morning by my mom who will have him until SUNDAY! Trei and I are taking the train down to San Diego at noon, where we will stay until Saturday afternoon. We will be staying at the Marriott in downtown San Diego, and plan on catching up on sleep, seeing a Padres game, eating good food, reconnecting as a couple, and spending some well needed time together. As much as I know I'll miss Lucas, I am SO excited to spend some time with Trei and SLEEP IN! Honestly. I've been counting down the hours. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!

So, you won't have a really good update until I get back. I'll try and focus on a good update Saturday night while Trei is working. Hopefully I'll have pictures up as well!!! Well, have a great rest of the week, and look for an update this weekend. Love you all!

Letters to Lucas: Month 8

Dear Lucas,

I'm writing this letter a week late, so today, you are 8 months 1 week old! I usually write it a few days in advance and post it on your monthly birthday. This month, I'm late. Not because I forgot...but because you are so busy, and so active I just haven't had a free moment to sit and write to you. You are a busy little bee, and that makes me a very busy queen bee. It's 8pm, and I have the time, energy, and inspiration to write. You will notice that there aren't as many photos this month, that's because I've pulled out the camera just a few times. Knowing the crazy camera person I am, this surprises many people - or is alteast an indication of just how busy I really am.

This month has been challenging for me. Not in a bad way, NEVER in a bad way. I'm still in my first trimester of pregnancy with your new brother or sister, which is the most difficult time of pregnancy. This is also the month that you decided to pick up the pace and are the most active than I've ever seen you. Trying to cope with the exhaustion, nausea, and headaches while trying to play with you, love on you, and everything else is really difficult. I feel like my physical symptoms limit me as your mother, and I hate that. The only compensation is knowing that this time in my pregnancy is short-lived and will be over soon. Which means I can be myself again, and you deserve me to be my old self again.

Dancing Baby

I captured some video of Lucas dancing (per Janea's request). He absolutely loves music, and anytime he hears it he begins dancing like a fool :) I happened to get him dancing to some music on various websites. Check out my youtube page to see these three new videos.

Unwinding....

This is one one of the only pictures I've take recently. It's of Melody and I at Sam's lingerie shower last weekend. It's a great picture, and represents a friendship I've had for many, many years, so I don't mind sharing. I always think a picture is better than nothing. Definitely wish I had some new ones of Lucas, but I'm a bad mommy. Nothing new recently. I'll try tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get some good ones of him. it's hard, because he doesn't sit still for very long. I wanted to update quickly before I head to bed to rest my weary bones :) Things are busy here in the Vossler home. Just the monotony of daily life keeps me on my toes. Cleaning, laundry, playing with Lucas, attempting to work on my website, etc. I find it hard to do much else. Sometimes I wonder how I'm going to do it with two babies. I know I will do it - but I can't fathom it now. Lucas will be 8 months this Saturday. I know, it feels like just yesterday I was holding him in my arms for the first time. This time last year I was 22 weeks along with Lucas. My tummy had popped a lot. I look at those pictures and think my tummy looked so beautiful. Now it's a mush of stretched skin and stretch marks. Not as asthetically pleasing to the eye - but I guess that's a sacrifice for the gorgeous baby boy I have here in my life. Either way, it's strange to think I'm growing another baby right now. I'm 10 weeks along, and the baby is a little over an inch....anyone interested in my posting "pregnancy updates"?? Remember I did them weekly with Lucas?? I can always just re-post them if anyone is interested in the inner workings of growing a baby. I don't mind doing it...just let me know! I have to mention that Lucas slept until 8am this morning. Say what?! Yep, talk about excited. He's been sleeping so well lately. As most of you know, my little (or should I say younger) brother Kyle moved out last week. Our summer together was over and he transferred Chili's and is back with mom and dad. So that meant we got to move Lucas back into his own room which has really improved his sleeping habits. Longer naps....less crying. It's been nice!

Introducing.....Baby Vossler #2!!

Since I had to scan this ultrasound, the quality is less than impressive, but it should work for now. Since I was 8 weeks along when this was taken, the baby was only about an inch long and looked more like a kidney bean than a baby. Since my Mac doesn't have a paint application, I had to use another program, so my labels look a little cartoon-ish. Oh well, should get the point :) (*Click on photo to see larger picture)

Hope for an update tomorrow. For now, enjoy our beautiful baby (I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow!).

Taming a Mama Cat?!

Yes, this is a photo of my son pretending to be a mama cat. Well, I don't know about mama cat, but he sure does love taking his toys from one end of the room to another using just his teeth. Especially this zebra. I think it's hilarious and just love when he plays this little game. Oh, and just check out those thighs...I want to eat them every day. He is so ticklish and I just love biting them and watching him roar in laughter. Life couldn't be any sweeter. Well, ofcourse, I was MIA for a week...AGAIN. What's up with that? Well, I'll tell you what. I play with Lucas while he's awake, and sleep with Lucas while he's asleep. Every day. Play and Sleepy. Play and Sleep. Just a few more weeks of this debilitating exhaustion, and I should be back to the normal Melissa. For now, I'm guilt-free while I take my hour or longer naps 4 times a day. Hey, I gotta survive some how. Bummed you're not seeing an ultrasound picture? Me too! I haven't scanned it yet. So for now, it's sitting on my desk just waiting to be viewed. Not that there is much to see. The baby is an inch long, and looks more like a shrimp than a baby - although an eye, arm buds, leg buds, and a heart are visible. It's so amazing how quickly a baby is formed from a ball of cells to a baby full of working organs and apparent physical parts. God is amazing - and his proof is in a growing baby. Honestly, it's mind blowing.  The baby is right on target for my due date (well, 1 day ahead, but they won't change my due date). Everything looks good from this end, so I'll have another ultrasound in 8 weeks or so for measurements and maybe even to find out the sex (Trei is adeament that we will be surprised this time around....we'll see!). I'm glad things look good and that we have a healthy baby growing right now. I'm counting down the weeks until I'm out of the first trimester and will begin to feel better. For now, I'm enjoying my weight LOSS (now I'm just 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!) and all the sleep I'm getting.  I guess I should look on the bright side of things :)

Hmmm, anything else? Not that I can think of right now. I'll try and get that picture scanned, and upload it for everyone to see (I'll even label it, so you know what you're looking at!). I'm also going to be opening a poll soon for gender/date/weight guesses again! I know I did a poor job of announcing our winner with the birth of Lucas, but I promise I'll do better this time around. only 32 weeks to go!

I'm getting ready for bed...or atleast I should be. I have just enough drive to sit and update my blog. The picture to the right is from the fair 2 weeks ago. Trei, Kyle, Katy, Lucas and I went on a Wednesday night for a few hours. We had a blast. We took Lucas in his pj's (and a red hoodie) in hopes he's fall asleep. However, in true Lucas fashion - he was awake most of the time - admiring the scenery and people watching. We had a blast actually - splurged on some photos. This one with a giant snake in the reptile exhibit. We had to drag Katy in, as she didn't want to have anything to do with it. Kyle has the head, while Katy and I have the tail. Lucas was enthralled, I'm even surprised he took a second to look at the camera - but I LOVE how he's reaching his hand up to touch the creepy crawly. Mom had trained him well in posing for pictures. Which brings me to pictures....or lack there of. My lack of drive in blogging also crosses over to my lack in drive of: cleaning, photography, chatting, laundry, or television watching. In fact, most of the day (to Trei's dismay) I'm either playing with Lucas, or sleeping with him. Not much else, which is lazy, I know - but I just can't seem to fight the exhaustion. I tackle odd jobs around the house, organizing wise, but that few and far between. I keep trying to tell Trei that growing a baby is hard work - he is less than pleased with my lax attitude. Oh well, I sleep anyway. He will never know the feeling, so I can't wait until the day he'll sympathize with me. It will never arrive :) Oh, my first baby doctor appointment was yesterday. All is well - atleast from the outside. I "feel" about 8 weeks along and all my vitals were good. I got my new mommy packet, let the doctors and nurses that watched me carry Lucas admire my now 7 month old son, and sat in the office feeling like I were just there pregnant with Lucas. It's totally surreal. I swear I was just doing this a few months ago. Lucas and I spent 2 hours at the lab today having blood drawn. I had to take an early glucose test (1 hour) because of my GD with Lucas the first time around, as well as the other prenatal panals they do regularly. I also have an ultrasound tomorrow at 11am to make sure the babies size matches up with my estimated due date (March 10th still). I'm sure it will - and am hoping they only see one baby. For some reason I've been panicking that there will be twins - I think I'm reading too much! I'll let you all know how it goes - and although the baby will be the size of a peanut, I'm hoping to have their first picture posted tomorrow night. How fun! I didn't get one this early with Lucas (I had to wait till I was 18 weeks along). Either they have new procedures in place, or it's because of my new insurance (I have a PPO now). I've been brushing up on my baby books, and even bought a baby name book - never got one with Lucas - so when I get a chance to read (another area I lack drive right now), I'll check out some names. I have quite some time, which might be another reason I'm slacking. Well, I think  that's enough for now. I'm tired. WAY tired. Look for another update tomorrow. Love to you all.
